The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the Geneva International Academic Network (GIAN) organized information briefings targeting prospective members of the peace-building and humanitarian missions in Afghanistan, as well as other persons who had a professional interest in the current developments in Afghanistan. The principal objective of the sessions was to provide practical information to prospective mission members on the cultural context in Afghanistan.
The following sessions took place:
Session I: 12 and 14 March 2002
Session II: 21, 25 and 27 March 2002
Session III: 16, 18 and 23 April 2002
These information briefings have been organized in collaboration between the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the GIAN, with the collaboration of experts from the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the Graduate Institute of Development Studies (GIDS) and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA)
The grant provided by the GIAN for this project totals SFr 27,253
