Daniel Mange and Martine Rahier Join the Scientific Committee - 22.11.05

The Geneva International Academic Network (RUIG-GIAN) is pleased to announce that two scholars of international stature will be joining its Scientific Committee:

Mr Daniel Mange is Honorary Professor at the School of Computer and Communication Sciences and Director of the Logic Systems Laboratory, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL), Lausanne;

Ms Martine Rahier is Director of the National Centre of Competence in Research Plant Survival and Professor of Animal Ecology and Entomology, University of Neuchâtel.

They will join Mr Edouard Dommen (President of the Scientific Committee, formerly economist with UNCTAD), Mr Maurice Aymard (Former Administrator, Maison des Sciences de l'Homme and Director of Studies of the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales , Paris), Mr Thomas Bernauer (Professor of International Relations, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich), Ms Laurence Boisson de Chazournes (Faculty of Law, University of Geneva) and Mr Jeff Crisp (Director of Policy, Secretariat of the Global Commission on International Migration, Geneva).

The arrival of these two new members coincides with the departure of Ms Ellen Hertz (Director of the Anthropology Institute, University of Neuchatel) who has become the President of the Scientific Committee of the Graduate Institute of Development Studies.

The principal responsibility of the GIAN’s Scientific Committee is to evaluate the scientific quality of proposals submitted to the GIAN and research results in the framework of the annual tendering procedure and the “Small Grants” programme.
