Transactions about Bodies and Contemporary Strategies of Lovers – International Gender Colloquium, GIDS / IUED, 11 and 12 October 2007

The debates will focus on femininities and masculinities of a youth in transition in the age of globalisation. The participants will consider the results of the research project "Gender and Rights in Reproductive Health" supported by the GIAN and undertaken collaboratively by the Graduate Institute of Development Studies (IUED) and the World Health Organisation (WHO) in West Africa.

There is a global tendency for couples to marry at a later age, thereby prolonging adolescence, with its dynamics, interactions, dreams, projects and strategies. This 11th International Gender Colloquium aims to examine strategies practiced by young girls and boys and to discuss the complex interactions that take place around their bodies to acquire sexual experiences as well as goods and status.

The International Gender Colloquium 2007 will be held at the IUED, 20 rue Rothschild, Geneva.
